OOTD: Vampy Verma

Hi ladies! I think it's been long due that we actually did our styling off of what we have in our closet. I have always thought it such a hassle because I'm a) without a good camera and b) without a willing photographer. However, I think we can slide imperfections in this first attempt at a Outfit Of The Day post. Today I was inspired by the new Arsenal captain, Tommy V. While I have nothing to gush about his personal off-duty style, or lack there of, I do always associate him with plaid shirts and dark colours. 

Verma's vampiric good looks and chiselled features always overwhelm whatever outfit he seems to be wearing so let's be real now, it doesn't really matter what he puts on because he seems to pull it off. So this outfit was pretty easy to put together especially after I found this fun take on the lumberjack shirt from Zara. The rest just fell into place. Military green trousers as a spin on the amount of cargo shorts the man seems to own. Wedge trainers in place of his trusted kicks, and assorted arm candy as he's often spotted with trinkets around his wrist. The bag adds toughness - representative of his playing style, and the delicate scarf is added to give a bit more flair to an otherwise tough outfit.

Matchday Moment: The Eco-Warrior Wag

Happy Earth Hour day, ladies! As a woman of today modern's society - we are expected not to just balance a professional career and a family, but we are also expected to take steps in the green direction. While offsetting carbon footprints is not an easy job and human activity seemingly remain to damage the environment, there is no reason we cannot individually commit ourselves in being a little more kinder to our earth in our everyday lives.

In honour of today's global commitment to give a short 60-minute break to the earth, we decided to create an outfit consisting of fully ethical and eco-conscious labels. These labels are committed to use organic and fair-trade materials along with ethical labour values in order to promote that fashion doesn't have to  be cruel. Forget long hippie locks, sweeping bell bottoms, and tie dye kaftans - the world of eco-warrior fashion has long moved on from the stereotypical flower child.

Through this outfit, we aim to show that you can dress like your fashion-forward (I use this term very loosely) wag - minus the weave and implants - in a very eco-friendly manner. We start with the uniform skinny jeans in a khaki-grey colour made with 100% organic cotton, and the ever-chic Aztec/tribal printed tee, also in organic cotton. In true Louis Redknapp and Alex Gerrard style, we throw a fair trade shaggy vest to add a bit of texture.

Accessorise with a statement necklace made out of recycled materials, a fair trade bold bracelet, vegan ankle wedge boots, and to show there is one high-end designer out there who is committed to the eco-friendly fashion movement: a Stella McCartney "Falabella" clutch in yellow faux python. The Beatle-offspring is a lifelong vegetarian, and her pieces are both leather and fur-free.

Antique Attire: Celtic FC, 1967

The 1960s is remembered as a time of liberation, protest, emancipation, change, fashion that pushed boundaries, and great music. While flower children, tree huggers, and freedom fighters becomes the face of the decade, we often forget that the decade that followed is filled with the very same young revolts who had all but grown up, realising that many of their protests led to little change. The 1970s became remembered as a time of commercialism, decadence and disco. "Nothing good came out of it" some says, but we know now that polyester is the fabric of choice for disappointment.

1967 witnessed the peak of the Civil Rights movement in the USA, the breakdown of Sino-Soviet relations, the Cultural Revolution in China, the ongoing Vietnam War, the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Britain, the Six-Day war, and of course - the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. What is often forgotten in the footballing world is that the year also saw the first British club and only Scottish club (as of today) winning the European Cup.  The team, afterwards nicknamed the 'Lisbon Lions' defeated Internazionale 2 - 1 at the Estádio Nacional in Lisbon.

(They also went to win the Scottish League Championship, the Scottish Cup, the Scottish League Cup, and the Glasgow Cup that season.)

This Antique Attire inspired by the Lisbon Lions focuses on mid-60s fashion with a touch of late-60s trends. The centre of the outfit is provided by the modish shirt dress in traditional Celtic green whose white trimmings are an homage to Celtic's white stripes. The psychedelic ethnic look became huge by the late 60s and here it is translated through the fringe wool coat and patterned headband.

We finish the look with a retro leather and straw shoulder bag where the materials remind you of old picnic baskets - an interpretation to the sense of togetherness that was very much true in the era. We adorn the ears with vintage Chanel earrings to add a touch of glamour, the eyes with iconic John Lennon-style shades, and finally another nod to the Swingin' London: suede platform boots.
